YouTube strategy & channel production

A plan for every part
of the video.

Strong ideas. Intentional packaging. The skills to bring it all together. I combine a deep understanding of YouTube with hands-on filmmaking, from the first concept through publishing and learning what works.

01Strategy & planning

Give people a reason to click. Then make it worth their time.

Success starts with an idea the audience cares about. That’s why I think about the idea, title, thumbnail, and opening together. The packaging gives people a reason to click, and the opening confirms they’re in the right place.

I build the plan around that promise, choosing a script, outline, or clear story beats that fit the creator. Before filming, we know what we need to say and capture to deliver a video worth watching.

YouTube packaging

Packaging with results.

Selected titles and thumbnails from my work with Katelyn James. Each gives viewers a clear reason to watch, from choosing a lens to learning a new tool.

Photography & design

The craft behind the thumbnail.

I bring photography, compositing, and design together to make the idea clear at a glance and fit the channel’s voice.

I shoot dedicated thumbnail photos so the image can support the idea. For this Matt Scharff video, I used my photograph of Matt and Marissa to create the final alternate-shot thumbnail.

HoneyBook thumbnails: before & after

For HoneyBook’s Independent Business Podcast, I worked with their designer to build a cohesive thumbnail system. We brought the episode’s topic forward and used consistent colors and layouts to make the show easier to recognize.

02Production & execution

Bring the idea to life.

Once we have the idea, I go out and make it happen. In the field or in a studio, I have the technical range to capture the footage and create or gather the assets we need to make a compelling video.

The setup changes with the concept. The standard stays the same: strong visuals, clear sound, and material that brings the idea to life for the audience.

  • Film wherever the idea takes us. From fast-moving action to a carefully planned studio shoot.
  • Make it look and sound great. Use the right cameras, lighting, and audio for the situation.
  • Get all the pieces. Capture the footage and gather the supporting visuals and sound the video needs.

03Editing & finishing

An intentional edit. A polished finish.

I shape the footage into a clear, engaging video, knowing what to keep, what to cut, and where the viewer needs more explanation. The pace and style should fit the audience, whether that means energy and movement or a clean, simple edit.

Fast, organized workflows let me focus on the decisions that make the video better, then carry that care through the color, sound, and graphics.

  • Keep it moving. Shape the story and deliver on the opening.
  • Finish the details. Balance color, dialogue, music, and graphics.
  • Know the audience. Make the right edit for the video.

04Publishing & learning

Have a plan beyond pressing publish.

Before a video goes live, we already have a plan for the first 24 hours: packaging, publishing, and promotion. Shorts, social posts, and email each have a role when they fit the channel.

Once it’s live, I’m paying close attention to the analytics and comments. I review what’s connecting, test alternatives where appropriate, and use what we learn to shape the next video.

With Matt Scharff, this approach supported a return to weekly videos and Shorts, reaching over two million channel views in our first month of regular posting.

Working together

A creative partner, built around how you work.

Some creators want help shaping the direction. Others arrive with ideas and scripts and need someone to make them stronger. I adapt to the person and the team, taking ownership where it’s needed while preserving the voice that makes the channel theirs.

That might mean developing concepts and outlines, strengthening an opening, or setting the publishing schedule and keeping reviews moving. I can carry a video from idea to delivery or work alongside your existing team.

There’s room to experiment, too. I bring recommendations, ask questions, and stay open to ideas. After publishing, I look at the results and audience feedback with the creator so we can learn from each release and make better decisions together.
